As a wedding photographer, one of my greatest thrills is to be referred to new clients by past brides and grooms. Of course, that’s even better when I get to shoot family weddings. A few years back, I shot the lovely Rachel and Sam’s wedding and since then, I’ve gone on to shoot cousins, friends and now Rachel’s brother Tom and his lovely bride Summer’s wedding at Bowcliffe Hall. What makes it even better is that I get to watch each couple grow, move jobs, have little families of their own… it’s so wonderful to see that each one is still having tons of fun and they’re still in love with each other.

And to hug each individual family and be treated like the long lost cousin they only see once a year, is a massive treat.

Tom and Summer chose the very grand Bowcliffe Hall near Wetherby, for their wedding and it suited them perfectly. It has a lovely old boys club atmosphere, with wood panelling and quirky antiques, mixed with timeless opulence and modern architecture – the Blackburn Wing treehouse with it’s aeroplane wing shaped building is just the coolest place ever. Summer looked gorgeous in her lace dress and full length veil, whilst her bridesmaids wore pale lilac gowns which were perfect for the summer weather. There was ice cream, a mini bi-plane, lots of cultural touches including the cake decorated to match Summer’s Kimono, and my good mates The New York Brass Band who got the party started on the lawn before marching everyone down to the Blackburn wing to dance their socks off.
