It’s all about the family. Once your dancing days are done, the nippers take over for a while. And they’re only little for a really short time. And then, before you know it, they’ve headed out into the big world leaving you with an empty nest and wishing they’d call you more often.
Sometimes I think we forget how lucky we are to bring these small people into the world – with their big ideas, ambitions and lust for life. We watch them grow, try to impart the little bit of wisdom we have, say all the things our parents said to us, and hope and pray they’ll be better people than us… more intelligent…more witty… more charming… more accepting.
They will make mistakes. We will watch them fall down and we will pick them up again, dust them off, dry their eyes and tell them to get back on the horse. We will be there for them on the happiest days of their lives, and the saddest days of their lives. Because that’s what parents do.
This is Jo and Phil with their children Aaron and Evie. They have been my ‘family’ for the last year. We have laughed together, cried together, watched our kids do crazy things together and shared a shaggy dog. I have no idea what I would do without them. I can’t really repay them for all the kindness that they give me, but I can take photographs. So this is for them… Love you guys!
