I don’t suppose many brides envisage that their perfect wedding will end in the Accident and Emergency Department. Best laid plans and all that….. When I turned up to shoot Arron and Laura’s pretty little rustic wedding over at Rudstone Walk in South Cave, nothing could have quite prepared me for what was about to unfold. Whilst steaming the bridesmaid dresses, there was an accident which left Laura with burns on her leg. There was panicky phone calls to doctors, a lengthy spell in a cold bath and with time running out before the ceremony, Laura made a decision. She had her leg wrapped in cling film, dosed up on paracetamol and got on with the show. Not once did this gorgeous girl moan. She is a trooper!

Meanwhile, Arron and most of the guests were completely in the dark. Instead, Laura made it down the aisle in her beautiful vintage gown, married her man and then with a glass of champagne in hand, broke it to him that they were heading for Accident and Emergency.

The wedding celebration was put on hold as we piled into a car and drove the 30 minutes to the nearest hospital. Two hours later, and with a bandaged leg, we did an impromptu photoshoot in the hospital car park before the light completely disappeared and then headed back down the motorway to finish off what we started at Rudstone Walk where all the guests were waiting anxiously.

Thanks to the amazing staff at Rudstone who pulled out all the stops to make sure everything ran smoothly at the last minute, to the staff at Goole and District Hospital  and to Arron and Laura who let me tag along for the drama.

So, although not your average wedding, this is certainly a crazy story to tell their kids in years to come.
