When it comes to choosing your perfect wedding suppliers, I know it can be a bit of a minefield. Sometimes your wedding venue can help you out, but they aren’t always completely impartial. As a Yorkshire Wedding Photographer however, I photograph weddings up and down the UK and across Europe getting to eat, dance and work with the best. So it goes without saying that I know the good guys from the bad guys.
Which is why I’ve put together my amazing list of wedding vendors. Everything from the best wedding gown shops, to the best food, my favourite bands to get the party started, and even hair and make up. Because I like to make sure that you have every single thing to ensure this wedding planning thing is easy.

I have eaten many many pieces of chicken, so you don’t have to. From fine dining to sharing plates, I’ve eaten it all… But when it comes to selecting your favourite caterer, it’s not just down to food. Like choosing a wedding photographer, there are many things to consider. Number 1 is service… the best caterers bring enough staff to ensure your wedding dinner is hot and on time. Then there is having enough food for everyone. And of course, finally, TASTY FOOD! I mean, that is high on my list… but should go without saying. Obvs.

WEDDING FLOWERS & STYLING
No wedding is complete without flowers. Whether you want an adorned arch, blossom trees at your top table, or just a simple bouquet, my favourite florists are absolute magicians when it comes to wedding floristry styling.
These clever lot can make your wedding venue look absolutely amazing – and they don’t just do flowers! If you want lanterns down your aisle, or an unusual table plan display, they’ve got it all. My advice is, go seasonal wherever possible (it helps keep the costs of import down), go with an open mind about what you want, and let the florist lead you down a creative path. With so many styles to choose from, finding your perfect gown can be a challenge. Plus, no-one wants to go to those shops where they tell you how amazing you look when you know you look like a bag of potatoes in white.
My favourite wedding gown designers and shops are run by wonderful women, who have your best interests at heart. Whether you want a Boho style floaty number, a big flouncy gown complete with full length veil, or something designed especially for you, these are my favourite wedding gown vendors.

If there was ever a day to let yourself be pampered, then your wedding day is it! Hiring a pro to do your hair and make up will not only make you look amazing, it will also make you feel amazing too. Beauty pros know a thing or two about making your hair look like you just stepped out of a salon, and make-up artists know how to ensure your wedding look stays put all day and night long – no matter how much sweating you plan to do on your dance floor. CINEMATIC FILMS
Apart from photography, I would always always have a film maker at my wedding. Great photographers and film makers go together like cheese and pickle. And these two guys are my absolute faves. JGVP and Green Biscuit are both cinematic wedding videographers. They are the kind of people who fade into the background, so you’ll never notice them there, and they produce work that is timeless, evocative and emotional beyond words.

There is nothing – I repeat – nothing, that can beat a band at a wedding. I’ve shot weddings where the bride has got up to sing with her own band, and the groom has performed with his band. I’ve shot celeb weddings where there has not been one band but about five. Bands get the party started like nothing else. I go to Glasto each year with the New York Brass Band. It is the most fun you can have with your clothes on! CELEBRANTS
Whilst a civil ceremony or a church ceremony can be pretty special, nothing quite beats an amazing celebrant led wedding.
And I only ever recommend one incredible celebrant. If I was getting married, she’d be the one I’d want. Zena Birch is a Humanist Wedding Celebrant. Rather than slotting your names into the appropriate gaps in a standard service, a humanist ceremony is unique and personal to you.
Humanist weddings are a great alternative for those wanting a non-religious ceremony. They do not have to be devoid of tradition or familiarity either.
