Sarah & Tom’s Classic Country House Wedding in Malton, York.
I get to shoot in some amazing country house estates on my travels, and one of my absolute favourites is Birdsall House.
Set in rolling countryside in Malton on a private estate, Birdsall House is a beautiful Georgian private home with a plethora of wedding options.
Whether you want a quintessentially English affair just like Sarah and Tom here, or you dream of getting hitched outdoors or having a small intimate ceremony in a stately home, Birdsall is just perfect.
Sarah and Tom opted for a church ceremony at St Mary’s Church, which sits in the Birdsall landscape, on a golden autumnal day surrounded by their friends and family – well almost all their family!
Sarah’s sister (and chief bridesmaid) unexpectedly went into labour on the morning of the wedding and missed out on all the celebrations. But before the day was out Sarah and Tom were officially aunt and uncle to a new arrival!
Looking outrageously gorgeous in her gown from Ava Rose in Silsden, and with hair and make up from the talented Anna Stephenson, Sarah walked up to the aisle to a nervous Tom who just about managed to hold it together. Afterwards there was enough champagne to sink a ship, and quite rightly too as Tom runs his own bar in Leeds, so booze was high on the priority list.
There are so many amazing options for photographs at Birdsall, but with the weather in October not being quite so reliable, we knocked out a few family group shots, a handful of portraits, and then we were back inside ready for dinner and dancing.
Guests were thrilled to meet Birdsall House’s resident doggy, whilst Lady Cara (whose family have owned the property for several generations) was on hand to ensure everyone was having an amazing time.
The Garage Band set the dance floor on fire, and helped along by several gins no doubt, the party got off to a splendid start before we all tucked in to a rather tasty cake of cheese! Mmmm cheese.
Huge thanks to Sarah and Tom for letting me be their Birdsall House wedding photographer and to Lady Cara and wedding co-ordinator Becky for making me laugh quite a bit and ensuring everything ran to perfection.
Here’s some of my favourite shots from their Birdsall House Wedding.
