I AM SHELLY.
BORN TO TELL STORIES
I cut my journalistic teeth in a newsroom and now I tell stories with a camera. I’ve been doing this crazy job for over 30 years and that’s one hell of a lot of weddings!
I have a fluffy dog, Spike, and a clever arse teenager – both named after film directors that I love.
I am a coffee snob, love nothing more than being in the fields of Glasto and adore Radiohead unconditionally. I’m also partial to a craft ale, have been known to throw some shapes on the dancefloor, and spend far too much time on DIY projects.
But my heart belongs to the mountains where I can usually be found getting knee-deep in powder on my snowboard during the winter. I have a fondness for hats – baseball cap, woolly hat, tribly… if it goes on my head, I’ll wear it.

My manifesto
I’m not one of those hide in the shadows ninja photographers. I’m not one of those people who will demand you spend two hours taking portraits either. I’d rather we spend ten minutes having a bit of a laugh, and then letting you disappear to dance, drink and sing. I love the moments in between the big moments more than anything. I love the stuff that other photographers don’t notice, and more than anything, I love the way that light changes the mood.
