This Leeds institution has quite the history – in the 60s and 70s it was the regular haunt for Leeds United players who rubbed shoulders with British film stars of their day.

In the 80s it was home to Goth lords Sisters of Mercy, before dance house legends Carl Cox and Sasha started playing there. And then by the early 2000s it became host to the Indie scene with the Arctic Monkeys, the Streets and Franz Ferdinand all performing in its legendary bar.

But now, after an extensive renovation, The Faversham is one of the coolest wedding venues in Leeds.

Hot Chip & The Cribs have played there. Now you can get married in The Fav’s hallowed music halls.

The Ceremony

There are a few options for getting hitched at the Faversham, Leeds. Most couples opt for the light filled conservatory which can seat 85, but you could opt for in the main room with its exposed brick walls and hardwood floors for up to 120 people.

The Faversham is in a great location, just on the edge of Leeds. There’s great transport links plus hotels and Airbnbs aplenty. It also has it’s own car park.

Getting Ready

On the morning of your wedding, there is the perfect place for your entourage to get ready, right within The Faversham.

The getting ready room is situated just off the main event area, hidden away from prying eyes, with space for your make-up artist or hair dresser, lots of mirrors and comfy seats. There’s a hanging rail for the all important outfits and you can even do portraits right here because it’s so lush.

You can spend a chilled out morning getting ready with your VIPs, before heading next door to the ceremony all without setting foot outside.

The CELEBRATION

Once you’ve said ‘I do’. and thrown some confetti, you have the conservatory and the lounge for drinks reception. There is also a south facing terrace for summer weddings.

The Faversham’s eclectic mix of vintage, industrial and modern furniture provides you with the flexibility to create unique settings in each room.

The main room with its exposed original brickwork, can play host to 120 people, who can feast on sharing platters or grazing tables all prepared by the amazing on site chefs.

Plus you get a great team, including a wedding co-ordinator to ensure everything runs smoothly.

I’m there for the emotion, the happiness and the big dance floor shenanigans. Some people are seasoned pros in front of the camera, whilst some feel all kinds of awkward, but that’s ok. I’ve been doing this job for so long, I know how to make you feel comfortable from the word go. My Faversham wedding photography package includes a 15 minute couple shoot that will have you looking super cool and damn fine… no hours of posing, just cool imagery for music lovers, nerds and tattoo aficionados.

GOT SOME QUESTIONS?

Of course, I usually tell my couples to have an hour of bride or groom prep so I can capture all the anticipation, the nerves and excitement before you say I do.

Lots of couples write their own personalised vows and this gives a much less formal feel to proceedings. It’s so much nicer to write something that is meaningful.

No problem. Your wedding day should be about you spending time with your guests – not with me taking hundreds of photos. My style is very editorial and documentary, so we only spend a short time on portraits. But I do like to go out for ten minutes if the weather is fine and grab some cool images of you both.

Absolutely. I normally tell you to have a handful of smallish family group shots but we try and make it super fast cos no-one wants to hang around doing family photos.

Gone are the days when photographers were relegated to the back of the room. These days, we’re allowed to photograph you as you come down the aisle, and during the vows. But I always shoot silently and discreetly as possible so as not to distract you from actually saying I do! But I will be there to capture all the moments as they unfold.

The steps down from the main door are perfect for a confetti shot. Just remember to bring your own confetti!

Unlike a lot of photographers, I stay as long as you want. If you want to capture some of the dancefloor madness, just add a few more hours onto your coverage.

The Faversham is totally exclusive just for you. No other weddings take place there on the same day. It’s like being a rock star for one day!
