Laura and Pete’s amazing Knaresborough wedding at Allerton Castle
There’s something special about Allerton Castle. First of all, it’s full of my kind of light. Plus it’s got that magnificent staircase – if you wanna make a grand entrance, then that staircase is da bomb! Laura and Pete got hitched there and well, that dress kinda blew me away.
I mean, who on earth could possibly not shake their booty in that frock? Amazing.
Plus, lots of my old couples were in attendance at this wedding including Will and Sara, who’s amazing Narnia inspired wedding you can see here, and lots of lovely mums and dads I’ve bumped into over the years – it was like a big family reunion.
And to top it all, I got to work with my mates and down right mental party animals, the New York Brass Band. If you havent seen the boys do their stuff before and you need a band for your wedding, these kids are about as good as it gets. I followed them to Glastonbury this year and shot a little promo video for them which you can check out here. Seriously, if you’re getting married next year, get em booked.
But back to Laura and Pete. First there was bridal prep in the Hotel du Vin in Harrogate. And oddly, as I pulled up to the front door, who should pull up beside me, but my favorite idiot and goddamn awesome wedding photographer Adam Johnson – totally weird. Once we realised we weren’t shooting the same wedding, I hung out with the girls for make up and then headed over to the beautiful bridal suite at Allerton Castle.
Laura had a sunflower bouquet in honour of her Dad, and her gorgeous mum lead her down the aisle to the shiny elephant where Pete was waiting. Then there was drinks on the lawn, a roly poly by bridemaid Flo (whose wedding I shot back in 2013 at Denton Hall), boys with flat caps and braces, some downright amazing speeches, a march up a hill, a piggy back down hill and then some maracas and sombreros and a lot of drinking. Blimey! What a day.
Here’s some of my favourite shots:
