” THESE ARE GORGEOUS! I ADORE THEM SO MUCH! “
Take a bride with a bespoke trousersuit, a lace cape, and a groom in tweed, a castle on the banks of the river Wye and a whole load of rain, and you have the most glorious, life affirming, geek laden wedding ever!
ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS, A SWORD, & a TOOTH FAIRY INCIDENT
Back when I was knee high to a grasshopper, I used to spend my summer holidays on my uncles pheasant farm… no jokes thank you! I’d spend my days roaming the barns, watching my aunt churn out amazing dinners and wondrous fruit pies, with nothing more than the great outdoors to entertain me. Halcyon days. So when Anna and Fred asked me to photograph their wedding back in my old stomping ground, I saw it as a wonderful opportunity to take a walk down memory lane.
Turns out I’d forgotten that it always rains in Wales. And the roads (well, country lanes) are so narrow you spend half your journey reversing so someone else can pass. But like all good weddings, rain does not stop play when you’re ready to party hard. Anna looked incredible in her bespoke designed outfit, although I was. bit worried about getting her hems dirty as we headed down to the river for pictures. There was a sword, a ceilidh, and a small tooth fairy incident.

CLIFFORD CASTLE WEDDING
Clifford Castle has sat on this hill overlooking the River Wye since 1070 – which is a long time in anyone’s book! Fred’s parents live pretty close so it seemed only fitting that his wedding to Anna should take place amidst the ruins. For history fans, there’s a connection to Fair Rosamund – the mistress of Henry II! But alas, the weather put paid to all romantic notions of getting hitched next to Rosamund’s Tower and instead there was a hastily arranged back up plan and Anna and fred had a flower filled hand fasting next to the castle entrance instead. The rain did nothing to dampen our enthusiasm tho. There was bespoke tattoos, a decapitation of a french dessert, and an epic sword battle, an incident involving the tooth fairy, and a lot of cocktails. I feel Rosamund would have approved.
