There’s been a shift of late in the wedding world. Years ago, everyone got married in a big hotel or stately home. Then we moved onto barns (I do love a barn wedding). Then the hipster pack made industrial weddings a thing and all kinds of cool urban places popped up.

But this last two years I’ve seen an increase in couples who don’t wanna have the old fashioned ‘big’ wedding and instead are opting for a quick ceremony at the Civic Hall, Register office or Town Hall and then having the mother of all parties right slap bang in the centre. Jamie and Katie did exactly this… and what a celebration it was.

Katie got ready at the stylish Dakota Hotel, with her cute as a button baby, and her best friends to help. Then it was a quick march through town to the Civic Hall where Jamie and all their friends and family were waiting. Jamie looked super cool in his linen outfit and total hipster hat, and their oldest son walked Katie down the aisle in the West Room. After that, it was confetti, a few family pictures outside and then all their guests headed over to Angelica whilst we did some portraits on the streets of Leeds.

Gotta tell ya, it was scorchio that day, so we stopped en route for a quick refreshing drink, before landing at the terrace and roof top bar at Crafthouse where all their guests were waiting. After a few drinks, some magic, and a lot of smiles, we all decamped downstairs to Angelica for fantastic food, speeches that made everyone cry, and a crazy party to remember (I’d expect nothing less from these two music business entrepreneurs.

City weddings come in all shapes and sizes but for most couples, they are usually intimate affairs with a handful of family and friends, which is why I have a mid-week package for those who are running off to get hitched in a little Town Hall or Civic Hall wedding.
