Chris and Kirsty’s rustic barn wedding at Deighton Lodge, York.
I knew this wedding would be a blinder. As soon as Chris and Kirsty booked me as their wedding photographer, I had the feeling that this was going to be an immense party – and I wasn’t wrong.
The wedding was held at the funky industrial barn of Deighton Lodge in York, a place stuffed full of Edison light bulbs, pulleys, old beams and brick sheds. It’s also the kind of place you can make your own mark on and with rolling fields as its’ backdrop, it’s not hard to see why Chris and Kirsty chose it. Deighton Lodge suited their vibe completely.
Chris ‘Dapper’ Fox, was true to his name and donned a blue suit with tweed waistcoat and wore a silver fox on his lapel. Meanwhile Kirsty looked absolutely amazing in her Charlie Brear gown with gold belt from the White Closet. It was altered for her by her aunt who also made all the bridesmaids and paigeboy outfits too and they all looked incredible.
However, the absolute star of the show, without a shadow of a doubt, was Kirsty’s dog Jeff. That pooch has stolen everyone’s heart – including mine. He even got a mention in the speech! What a dude.
Flowers were created by Chris’ mum, whilst Kirsty’s up-do was done by the lovely Kathy Banks White.
Kirsty’s Dad showed more emotion than any dad I’ve ever seen on a wedding day, and proudly escorted her down the aisle whilst Kirsty grinned from ear to ear. There were some lovely readings, a simple ceremony, some rings and one of the finest first kisses I’ve seen in some time – this is how you do it people! You can scroll down and see them smooching.
Then it was out onto the lawn for some booze, confetti and hugs followed by some portraits and a bit of larking around in a field.
Then it was onto speeches and my oh my, they did not disappoint. I’m still reeling from the story of Chris and the Call of Duty game! Let’s say no more. Then it was time for dancing and the awesome Warning Tones cranked up the volume and got everyone on the floor. There was some epic dancing, some epic drinking and my favourite thing at weddings… tattoos! Every wedding needs temporary tattoos and these were designed especially for Chris and Kirsty’s wedding. Two gentlemen took their trousers down in front of me at the bar (TWO!) both for tattoo reasons mind…
Quite frankly, it was all bloody splendid. More weddings like this please!
Big shout out to Carla who owns and runs Deighton Lodge and to wedding planner extraordinaire, Ellen Davies at LND Events who worked her fingers to the bone making sure everything ran on time.
So without further ado, here’s the full on slideshow and if you wanna look at the images a bit more slowly, you can see a whole heap of them below.
Massive hugs to the wonderful Kirsty and Chris for letting me be their wedding photographer. I loved every bloody minute of it. Let’s do it again next year!
