I absolutely adore barn weddings. They tend to be laid back affairs, rustic, a little bit of diy, and usually an epic party crowd. Kate and Katie’s wedding (yep, not confusing at all!) at East Riddlesden Hall, was all these things and more.

First of all, Kate and Katie booked me what seems like an eternity ago. I met them for a pint last year (we also shot some images for a little pre-wedding shoot whilst we were at it) and we sat in the sunshine talking about all their plans and I knew that this wedding would be crazy fun. They didn’t let me down.

First of all, they got ready in the same hotel so I could run between rooms – I tell you, this photography lark keeps you fit! The lovely Sam Frost was on make up duty, and we had a bit of a military operation going on to ensure Kate and Katie didn’t bump into each other in the corridors! You can read the story behind one of my favourite images from the wedding here.

The girls were also sharing a gaggle of funny bridesmaids wearing cool little non-bridesmaidey dresses and being all emotional and hilarious in equal measure plus cute paige boys and two flower girls. Katie’s brother donned a very fetching chauffeur’s cap to drive her to the Airedale Barn, whilst Kate was driven by one of her best friends… again, arrival all done in military precision – not an easy task!

There was a beautifully simple ceremony, ring duty being performed by another of the bridesmaids, and then they were wife and wife!

As usual the team at East Riddlesden Hall Wedding Venue were great, and a big shout out to Chloe and Liam who both work on the wedding team, who got engaged the very same evening! Food was by the always incredible boys at Hog and Apple, whilst flowers were by Kate’s mum.

The Airedale Barn looked gorgeous thanks to friends and family who had pulled out all the stops to make it look fantastic and fairy lights glowed whilst the top table had those cool Edison bulbs by Typical Type.

The speeches were funny and emotional and included poetry and singing! And then the dancing began… oh these lot are party animals for sure. I left having hugged pretty much every guest, and promised the girls and the bridesmaids that there would be reunion beer!

Enormous thanks to their lovely families for welcoming me with open arms too.

Here’s some of my favourite images of the day.
