Not many people know this, but in my past life, I used to be a garden designer. That’s right. Green stuff. Occasionally, my old boss Catherine at Kingdom Gardens bribes me with food and booze to take pictures of her latest creations… then she usually tries to tempt me back to my ‘rightful place behind the drawing board’.

But it aint gonna happen. I still miss it though…. I miss the earth and cold fingers on autumnal planting days. I miss the mud on the bottom of my boots and trying to hold a planting schematic in the driving wind and rain. I miss the hot days when the sun beats down and the birds are singing. I miss bearing witness as bare ground blossoms and matures in the space of a few months.
