As soon as Dani said “there’ll be flamingo croquet”, I knew I had to shoot this wedding. Never mind that both she and her fella Jonathan are downright gorgeous together, they also put on an impressive shindig at Whelprigg House.
First Dani’s love of Alice in Wonderland was the over-riding theme, then there was the bridesmaids pale pink ethereal gowns, a pocket watch or two, and our very own little flower girl fairy. Throw in some tipis, the best sweetie bar I’ve ever seen and a load of glorious family and mad friends and well…. party central.
First there was a vintage bus (the same bus Dani’s granddad drove just after the war), then a fantastic church ceremony with some brilliant Oasis singing, then cocktails in jam jars, a paddle in the stream, sheep poo and the flamingo croquet! It doesn’t get better than that.
Oh but then there was some bouncy hoppers and a bugle which no-one could play and lots and lots of mad hatters.
Thanks to them both and their families for having me around to photograph their madness. It was immense.
