Aimee and Kerry’s Alice in Wonderland themed wedding at Brympton House, Yeovil.

Sometimes when I photograph a wedding, I find myself enjoying myself far too much. I sometimes forget that I’m actually being paid to document an incredible day, and not, seemingly, to laugh, dance and make merry! More is the pity.
This is probably because I absolutely, positively love this crazy job. It has taken me round the world and up and down the country to meet gorgeous people, share in their happy experiences and given me some lifelong firm friends along the way. I know I keep banging on about it, but relationships are the key to getting the best out of your subject. Walking into a room full of strangers and immediately developing rapport with eight bridesmaids, two sets of parents, brides, grooms and numerous small children, isn’t for the faint hearted. But it’s my life. I meet some of the most wonderful human beings along the way and Aimee and Kerry are just two of those.
And why do I like them so much?
Well firstly, they like cake.
Which is why they had the most amazing Alice in Wonderland cake at their Brympton house wedding.
Secondly, they are funny. Like, laugh a minute, always smiling, happy, oddball, sharp tongued funny. My kind of crazy.
So it made total sense that their wedding style represented their personality… which is why the Alice in Wonderland theme worked so well.
Of course, Brympton House is an amazing setting for any wedding and suits my style down to the ground – lots of dark wood panelling, beautiful old architecture and gorgeous grounds.
Make-up artist Amazing Face was on hand to create beautiful natural looks for both Kerry and Aimee before they donned their gowns (from Allure Couture and Riki Dalal) before heading down the aisle with proud dads.
Their best men on duty were Jason and George looking dapper in blue suits, and lovely bridesmaids in pink.
The chapel looked incredible thanks to the team at Stems of Somerset, and after the ceremony, there was bucket loads of confetti and a couple of lemonades!
After some decent drinking, we went into dinner, led in a super funky flashmob dance from the best men, bridesmaids and eventually Kerry and Aimee… quite frankly, everyone should enter dinner this way. I need to make this the law! After much clapping, stamping, grooving and laughing, there was amazing picnic style food. Nom.
Afterwards, we had cake, tea (obviously!) and headed over to the barn where the girls had two pretty amazing dances with their respective Dads, burned up the dancefloor with their choice of tunes whilst we all voted for our favourites and then tried to kill us all with sparklers… This is why I love being a Brympton House Wedding Photographer.
Big thanks to the second shooter and Tea Boy Ian Wallace, for doing all the driving and knocking out some amazing pictures too. Obviously he brought wine gums.
And of course, huge thanks to Kerry and Aimee and their wonderful family and friends for making my job feel not like a job, but instead a ton of fun. Cheers kids!
